If your dream vacation consists of romantic landscapes, enchanting castles, cosmopolitan cities, colorful festivals and friendly people - Germany is the only option. A land where history and culture come alive and whose complex past has made the extraordinary country it is today. Carnivals and festivals are very popular in Germany and will not be long before you're in the heart of the action - drinking beer, eating cookies and gently close the roller coaster. Beer is the national drink of each region and brewery producing a distinctive flavour and body.

From the high Alps in the South, the Bavarian plain, and the flowing hills of central Germany to the coast of the North and Baltic Sea: it all looks like a miniature train landscape packed with the nicest of old towns, medieval houses, gothic churches and small villages. The Celts are believed to have been the first inhabitants of Germany. They were followed by German tribes at the end of the 2nd century B.C. German invasions destroyed the declining Roman Empire in the 4th and 5th centuries A.D. One of the tribes, the Franks, attained supremacy in western Europe under Charlemagne, who was crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 800.
