Have been out of the loop for a bit, and stepping back into the workforce, stopped off here for tips/tricks/inspiration

there is nothing wrong to start saying Hi
I think that is the best way to start with it then you can choose where you would like to go.
you may go ahead and asking about like "what you are doing right now ?" to get your friend to start part of your conversation. or telling what you doing / what happening then wait for the response and check how it go.
